Despite the grumblings that “My Space is dead” and “Facebook is so yesterday”, the stats don’t lie. Americans love social networking, and even more so than they did a year ago.

According to an August 2011 Pew Internet & American Life Project report, 65% of adult internet users say they use social networking sites like Facebook, My Space or LinkedIn, up from 61% one year ago. In a separate study on Twitter use from June 2011, Pew reports that 13% of online adults use the status update service, up from 8% in November 2010.
